Enjoy “Free-Flight” Month

August 17th, 2008 Posted in General, Human Resources, Operations | No Comments »

Greetings!

We have decided in the past week to leave pilots with the option of flying all equipment types for one last month. We feel that it allows you, the pilot, to determine exactly which program you wish to be in to ensure that you enjoy your time at Fusion Airways. Starting September 6th, “equipment programs” will be enforced, and you will only be able to fly the program you wish to be in. All pilots are assigned to the 757/767 program by default, however if you wish to be in the Airbus A319 program please contact Crew Scheduling.

Here are the short rules on transferring and programs in general:

  • You may only transfer programs every 60 days.
  • You may only dispatch, fly and file PIREPs for the aircraft that are included in your program. The exceptions are:
  • If you are flying a Fusion Airways sponsored event, and Program Restrictions have been explicitly waived.
  • If you receive prior permission from Crew Scheduling to fly a different program.

As always if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Enjoy this final month, and being to think exactly which program you would like to be apart of.

Dispatch Center Build 3.09 Released

June 27th, 2008 Posted in General, Operations, Website Features | 3 Comments »

Greetings!

After a very fun time at Friday Night Operations, simulating real-Fusion Airways operations from 4 PST until later in the evening. Ed will be posting a recap about FNO here shortly. But for now I wanted to let you know regarding some small updates to the dispatch center. Both of these updates involve our fleet management, and the ways that the fleet is moved across the country.

1.) When a pilot requests a dispatch release, the dispatch generator will dispatch the correct aircraft that the pilot selected in the earlier page.

2.) When a pilot files a PIREP, the aircraft is automatically repositioned at that moment. Previously, the pilot had to wait for the PIREP to be approved which would not allow the simulation of multi-leg trips on the same aircraft.

I would like to also announce some of the features of our version 4.00 of the dispatch center that is still being worked on. Some of these features include:

  • The ability for a human dispatcher to dispatch your flight.
  • Possible MEL restrictions for your flight.
  • Updated fuel information, in a new format. Allowing for addition of holding fuel, and a more realistic values for normal flights not requiring contingency or holding fuel.
  • We are also working on the possibility of including load/balance, takeoff data and landing data cards to the dispatch release. These will vary based on your weight.

Some exciting new features indeed, including the human powered dispatch system. We will keep you informed on the progress of this system, and we hope to have this released in the coming weeks. If YOU have any suggestions regarding what we should add, feel free to post a comment below.

First Batch of Inactivity Notices Sent

June 15th, 2008 Posted in General, Human Resources | No Comments »

Greetings!

I just wanted to take the time to let all of our pilots who read this blog to know that as of 6/15/08 Inactivity notices were sent to all pilots who did not file 1 PIREP within 14 days of hiring. If you did not recieve an e-mail, but believe you are inactive please check the roster located at http://www.fusionairways.com/flight-info/index.php?content=fops&sub=sfo&hubsub=roster to determine if you were marked inactive. Our server can be very moody, sometimes it will send out e-mails other times it will not.

Those sent inactivity notices have 7 days to fly and file 1 flight, and they will be placed back on “active” status. Please post a comment below, or let me know if anybody has any questions.

Freeware Aircraft Released

May 28th, 2008 Posted in General | No Comments »

I am pleased to announce that our first freeware aircraft is now available. Based on the illustrious Project Open Sky Boeing 757, this will also be Fusions first specialty themed airplane, N350FS has been repainted after its recent incident at SFO. The aircraft has now been returned to full active service.

To download the aircraft: Click Here

Also, effective June 1st, the 14 day Inactivity rule will be in effect. Pilots must complete their first flight within fourteen (14) days of June 1st (by June 15th) otherwise they will be terminated from the roster due to inactivity. Pilots hired after June 1st will be required to fly their first flight within fourteen (14) days of their hire or they will be terminated due to inactivity. Pilots may request a leave of absence by e-mailing their hub director OR completing the form in the Crew Center.

100th Pilot Joins Fusion Airways

May 26th, 2008 Posted in General, Human Resources, Operations, Website Features | No Comments »

Greetings!

Today at 8:35 AM, Fusion Airways received it’s 100th pilot application. Alex Bailey joined the airline and has been assigned the unique FUS1100 employee number. Congratulations to Alex!

As a reminder, because our freeware planes are missing in action (please see this forum topic) for more details, inactivity rules do not apply. Once the aircraft (or a temporary fix) is selected, these rules will begin and the 14 day, inactivity for new pilots (1 PIREP must be filed within 14 days of hiring) applies. Then the normal 1 PIREP per 30 days inactivity policy will apply.

Finally, I wanted to keep you updated on some updates to the dispatch center. As you may have noticed, acting on a request from the forums, we have added gates, passenger, cargo load numbers and a static cost index. Behind the scenes, we have updated the cargo values, as they were previously set way too high! These new cargo numbers will give us a more realistic operation when transporting passengers and cargo.

Fusion Airways is a VATSIM Partner!

May 13th, 2008 Posted in General, Operations | No Comments »

Greetings Again!

I am writing this post on the premis of Fusion Airways becoming an official VATSIM Partner! With this new partnership status, Fusion Airways is officially recognized by the Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network (VATSIM) and links to our website are now displayed in the VATSIM VA section of the VATSIM website. In addition to this status, Fusion Airways is officially now recognized on the popular VATAWARE website!

The past several weeks have flown smoothly, with only a few bumps (maybe more than just a few) but for now we are level at FL400 and the seatbelt sign is off!

Until Next Time,
Bobby Cosgrove
